Events

Are you a student interested in the financial world and looking to broaden your professional horizons? Then Financial Talks is the perfect event for you! Inspired by the renowned TED Talks, this evening offers valuable insights into the financial sector through the experiences of two inspiring speakers. This year's edition is organised in collaboration with Albertus Magnus.

Kees van Kalveen is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Triodos Bank, a position he has held since January 2023. He studied Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and later obtained a postgraduate qualification in controlling. Before joining Triodos Bank, he served as CFO of Nationale-Nederlanden Bank, where he previously held the position of Head of Treasury. His background provides valuable insights into the challenges of balancing financial performance with sustainable banking and societal impact.

Sjoerd van der Eijk is the CFO and Finance Director of Ayvens Netherlands, a leading company in mobility and leasing services. He obtained Master's degrees in Strategic Management and Finance and Law. He began his career at investment bank Leonardo & Co. before moving to CEVA Logistics and later LeasePlan, where he held several senior finance positions, including Regional CFO. Throughout his career, Sjoerd has gained extensive experience in financial strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business transformation, offering valuable insights into the evolving role of finance.

The Chairman of the Day will be Paul van Riessen, journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of Quote magazine. Drawing on his extensive experience in journalism and the business world, he will guide us through the evening, bringing together the perspectives of both speakers, asking thought-provoking questions, and encouraging insightful discussions.

This year, Financial Talks will take place on 23 November at Huize Maas in Groningen. Following the talks, we will end the evening with drinks, offering the perfect opportunity to continue the discussions and connect with fellow students and professionals in an informal setting.

Don't miss this opportunity to expand your financial knowledge and broaden your professional network. We hope to see you there!
