Lyon Roeterdink
Hi everyone! My name is Lyon Roeterdink, and I am the Vice-Chairman of the FSG Board for the 2025-2026 academic year. I’m currently in the final phase of my bachelor’s degree, during which I completed a minor in Finance.
Before taking on my board year, I first got involved with FSG by helping to organize the Dutch Banking Tour. Since then, I’ve seen firsthand how well-organized and professional FSG is, and I’ve come to really appreciate the way it balances formal and informal activities. That experience inspired me to apply for a board position as Vice-Chairman.
As Vice-Chairman, I have several important responsibilities. First and foremost, together with the Chairman, I am responsible for the association’s policy and strategy. At the beginning of each board year, the board sets out an annual policy plan that aligns with FSG’s long-term goals. Additionally, I analyze opportunities to develop new events throughout the year and continually evaluate and refine our existing activities to ensure that our members have the best possible opportunities to explore careers in the financial sector. This strategic responsibility also helps me learn to make decisions with a long-term perspective.
Beyond policy and strategy, another key part of my role is managing our partnerships. During the summer, the External Relations Officer and I visit companies to establish or renew partnerships for the upcoming academic year. These partnerships are crucial to FSG’s success. Maintaining strong relationships with our partners is essential, and the summer visits serve both as a valuable networking opportunity and as a chance for personal development.
Another important part of my role is Career Support. If students need help exploring career paths, connecting with companies, or preparing for life after their studies, they can come to me. I aim to bridge the gap between academic theory and the financial industry, helping students take their first steps into the professional world.
The Vice-Chairman is also the Sustainability Officer for the FSG Board. In this role, I help to promote and implement sustainable practices within the organization. This includes supporting and facilitating sustainable initiatives, raising awareness among members about sustainability, and identifying areas where FSG can improve its environmental footprint.
Finally, as Vice-Chairman, I supervise the following committees within FSG: Accountancy Tour Amsterdam, Activity Committee, Dutch Banking Tour Committee, Expedition Strategy (Supervisory Board), Financial Advisory Team (Supervisory Board), Integration Committee, Investment Team (Supervisory Board), Journal Committee, and the M&A Tour Committee.
